Most Popular Leopard's Inhabitant

The second largest National Park on the island, located in the southern part of the country and laying in Uva and Southern provinces. The National Park is spread over 979 square kilometers with 5 blocks and 2 of them has open to the public. Yala owns various kinds of ecosystems, moist monsoon forests, dry monsoon forests, semi-deciduous forests, thorn forests, grasslands, marshes, marine wetlands, and sandy beaches are some of them. There are 215 bird species can found in this National Park and 12 of them are endemic to Sri Lanka; 44 mammals are resident in Yala including the Sri Lankan elephant. Yala owns the reputation of one of the highest densities of Leopards and also there are 300 to 350 Sri Lankan Elephants inhabitant this park.
